Assemble

TOOL REQUIRED
- 951 2615 Hydraulic Pump
- 999 5444 Press Tool
- 999 5515 Drift
- 999 5575 Puller Cylinder
- 999 5576 Hydraulic Pump
- 999 5628 Drift
- Or Equivalent





1. Press a drive shaft sealing ring into the housing.
- Grease sealing ring lip.
- Press in the sealing ring.
- Use drift.





2. Install spacer in pump housing:
- Position locating pins in pump housing.
- Install an O-ring on the control plate.
Lubricate the 0-ring.
- Install the spring and control plate in the pump housing.

NOTE: Position the spacer with groove (1) into correct position above locating pins (2).





3. Install pump shaft.
- Insert shaft and press into place with bearing until seated in the pump housing.
- Reinstall circlip.

NOTE: The circlip is champfered on one side. This side must face the pulley.





4. Install pump ring and rotor as follows:
- Two pump ring locating pins.
- Pump ring with markings upwards.
- Rotor and blades.

NOTE: Turn the rotor notch in blades towards the pulley.





5. Install bearing housing:
- Install new lubricated O-ring in pump housing.
- Press rear end into pump housing.

NOTE: The markings should be opposite each other.

- Reinstall circlip.





6. Install control valve in pump housing.
- Place a new O-ring on the control valve.
- Tighten connection to 75 Nm (55.3 ft. lbs.).





7. Install pulley, except models with 28 mm (1.10 inch) belt.
- Lubricate the pump shaft with oil.
- Use press tool.
- Press down the pulley to the same level as the pump shaft.





8. Installing pulley for a 28 mm (1.10 inch) belt.
- The pulley has a new mounting position and the belt has been expanded to 28 mm (1.10 inch).
- However, the grip length of the pulley on the pump shaft is unchanged.
- Press the pulley on with tool until the distance between the end of the power steering pump shaft and the center edge of the pulley is (see illustration): L = 5.0 + 0.1 mm (0.197 ± 0.0040 inch).
- The center edge of the pulley will project past the end of the shaft.





9. Alternative installation with hydraulic tool.
- There is a special tool for installing pulleys 999 5628.
- The tool is used with puller cylinder and an hydraulic pump.
- Use either pump.
- The mounting position is the same as above, the distance between the end of the shaft and the center edge of the pulley should be 5.0 ± 0.1 mm (0.197 ± 0.0040 inch) for 28 mm (1.10 inch) belt.
- A in the illustration displays the washer which should only be used when installing a 28 mm (1.10 inch) belt.
- The washer provides the correct mounting position.
