Disassemble

TOOL REQUIRED
- 999 5443 Puller
- 999 5444 Press Tool
- 999 5515 Drift
- Or Equivalent





1. Remove pulley from pump if not already removed.
- Use Puller.





2. Remove brackets from pump.





3. Remove control valve from pump housing.
- Install pump in a vise.
- Disconnect terminals.
- Remove control valve and spring and terminal O-ring.





4. Remove pump shaft and bearing from the pump housing.
- Remove pump shaft and bearing circlip.





5. Withdraw shaft and bearing from pump housing

NOTE: If the bearing is difficult to remove, use press tool for a better grip.





6. Remove drive shaft sealing ring.
- Use a screwdriver.
Take care not to damage the pump housing.





7. Turn the pump over and remove bearing housing circlip.
- Press out circlip through the hole in the pump housing with a drift.
- Remove ring.





8. Tap out bearing housing.
- Use a cylindrical (8 mm) drift which is not burred.
- Carefully insert the drift into the bearing housing so that the needle bearings are not damaged.
- Tap out bearing housing.





9. Removing pump ring and rotor. Remove:
- Bearing housing O-ring
- Pump ring.
- The two locating pins.
- Rotor with blades.





10. Remove spacer and spring from pump housing as follows:
- Spacer and spring from pump house.
- O-ring from spacer.
- Locating pins from pump housing.
- O-ring from pump housing.





11. Remove spacer using a drift.
12. Clean and check all components carefully.
- Replace damaged or worn components.
- Always lubricate the new components before installing.

NOTE: O-rings and sealing rings should always be replaced.

- If replacing the bearing, continue to the point Removing bearing.
- If replacing O-ring seat, continue to point Removing 0-ring seat.
- If replacing hose nipple, continue to point Removing hose nipple.





13. Removing bearing.
- Press bearing from shaft.





14. Installing drive shaft bearing.
- Install the bearing on the drive shaft.
- Support bearing inner ring.
- Press onto drive shaft in bearing until it can go no further.





15. Removing O-ring seat.
- Press out the O-ring seat, use with drift. (Tool not displayed in illustration.)





16. Installing O-ring seat.
- Remove O-ring (if fitted) from O-ring seat.
Lubricate the seat.
- Carefully press it in until it can go no further.
Use drift.
- Install O-ring in seat.
Lubricate the seat.





17. Removing hose nipple.
- Secure nipple in a vise.
- Turn pump backwards and forwards, use a pipe wrench.
- The nipple is force fitted to the pump housing.

NOTE: If the nipple is angled, note the position.





18. Installing a new nipple.
- Clean the hole and apply locking fluid, P/N 1 161 0573 to the new nipple.
- Press into the pump housing until it can go no further.

NOTE: Be accurate with the position if the nipple is angled.
