TITLE: RECALL 73 Tire Pressure Label Replacement

Volvo Cars of North America, Inc., and Volvo Canada Ltd., have announced a safety recall affecting certain 1995 model year 960 sedans and wagons, for an incorrect tire pressure label. Approximately 4,946 Volvos in the U.S. and 519 in Canada are affected. The spare tire information on the label for size and pressure is incorrect. Please note that the information on the spare tire itself is correct.

The chassis numbers of the affected vehicles are as follows:

Model Chassis # Range

964 048301 - 057361
965 018100 - 021179

The tire label contains size and pressure information for the spare tire. This information is incorrect. The correct spare tire size is T125/90 R15; Correct PSI is 60.

The corrected labels must be installed on all affected vehicles (see owner's letter and instructions). Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter directly, and supplied with a replacement label and installation instructions. They will be asked to install the new labels themselves, or in some instances, they may request the retailers install the label.

Also included in the package sent to these owners will be an updated Owner's Manual. They will be asked to place this in their car and to discard the old one.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

All stock vehicles at U.S. Retailers must have Recall 73 completed prior to retail sale as required by Section 154 (D) of the U.S. National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. We strongly recommend that Canadian retailers complete the recall on stock vehicles prior to retail delivery.

If according to our records, any affected vehicles are in retailer stock, a listing of those vehicles, along with a supply of labels and owner's manuals, are enclosed. Please note that for the U.S./Canadian market, there are a total of four different labels. The label part numbers are identical! We suggest you check the "VEHICLE CAPACITY WEIGHT" in the upper left comer of the label for model applicability:

SEDANS (964)

U.S. 964 = 0915 LB

CANADIAN 964 = 0415 KG

STATION WAGONS (965)

U.S. 965 = 1020 LB

CANADIAN 965 = 0465 KG

If labels have been enclosed, please check them carefully to be sure that the correct label goes onto the correct model vehicle for your in-stock cars. Also place the new owner's manuals (TP 3619/2) in the new car wallet and discard the old owner's manual (TP 3619/1).

If any vehicles listed as stock have been retailed, it is the retailer's responsibility to contact the customer and arrange for the new label to be installed and the replacement of the old owner's manual.
