FFA1: Checking for noise
Materials which can be used to prevent noise:
- Teflon tape, P/N 116 1410-4
- Felt tape, P/N 353 7456-0

Below is a list of possible sources of noise:
1 Control panel
2 Head restraint
3 Lumbar support
4 Impact protection
5 Drive gear and drive cable
6 Seat rails, bearing points

Select an alternative.

FFA2: Control panel
A creaking noise can come from the upholstery rubbing on plastic components. This applies especially to leather/vinyl upholstered seats. To correct this noise use Teflon or felt tape.

Then continue with:
- Operation done





FFA3: Head restraint
The head restraint bushings can cause a rattling noise. Replace the bushings.

Then continue with:
- Operation done

FFA4: Lumbar support
A creaking noise can come from inside the cover to the lumbar support adjuster. Correct using Teflon or felt tape.

If the lumbar support is not under tension it can cause a rattling noise.

The lumbar support adjustment springs inside the backrest can cause a pinging noise when the springs are in contact with each other. Try to separate the springs from each other and insulate with tape.

This applies to the other springs in the backrest frame.

Then continue with:

FFA5: Impact protection
If the impact protection is loose it can knock on the backrest frame or contact the SIPS Airbag gas generator. Insulate using Teflon or felt tape.

Then continue with:

FFA6: Drive gear and drive cable

Drive gears

Noise from the drive gears may be due to lack of grease. Remove drive gear. Drive gear in backrest, Service and Repair Take off the cover and fill with grease 116 1236-3 or. 116 1417-9.

Drive cable in backrest
If a new drive cable has been installed it is important that it is clamped so there is no play at the motor mounting. Push the cable slightly towards the motor when clamping.

Then continue with:
- Operation done

FFA7: Seat rails, bearing points
Grease the seat rails bearing points and all other bearing points to avoid noise.
