Condition

- No DTCs.
- Fault is permanent.

Possible source

- Open circuit in signal lead.
- Faulty brake fluid level sensor.
- Faulty dashboard.

Fault-tracing starts with EEB. Checking circuit for brake fluid level sensor.

Checking ground lead






- Ignition off.
- Disconnect brake fluid level sensor.
- Connect an ohmmeter between brake fluid level sensor connector terminal 2 and ground.

Ohmmeter should read approx. 0 ohms.

If reading is OK: EEB2
If reading is incorrect: Control leads to the brake fluid level sensor connection 2 and ground 31/44 for open-circuit as per [IIIB2]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]

Checking brake fluid level sensor









- Ignition off.
- Disconnect brake fluid level sensor.
- Connect a temporary lead between brake fluid level sensor connector terminal 1 and 2.
- Start engine.
- Rev engine up once.
- Warning indicator should come on.
- Ignition off.
- Remove temporary lead.

Does warning indicator come on?

Yes: Check with a new brake fluid level sensor.
Fault not found

No: Check lead between brake fluid level sensor #1 and combined instrument #A28 as per open-circuit [IIIB2] Check Communication to Control Module [III]
