Cylinder Block, Exposure (External Component Removal)


Special Tools:
- Floor Stand tool No. 999 2520, or equivalent
- Lifting Yoke tool No. 999 2810, or equivalent
- Gear Segment tool No. 999 5112, or equivalent
- Fixture tool No. 999 5297, or equivalent
- Lifting tool Yoke No. 999 5428, or equivalent
- Lifting tool Lug No. 999 5459, or equivalent
- Lifting tool Lug No. 999 5464, or equivalent

NOTE:

- This method assumes that you have lifted the engine out in accordance with the appropriate steps, refer to "Removal". Service and Repair

Procedure





1. Remove gearbox:
- Gearbox removal:
- Remove starter motor.
- Automatics:
Remove dipstick and tube.
Remove torque converter bolts.

NOTE:
- We recommend undoing the lower gearbox engine bolts, which are difficult to access, before lowering the engine assembly to the floor (Use a suitable underlay).
- Take the load off the gearbox.
- Undo the remaining bolts and remove the gearbox carefully.

- Remove gearbox from engine by the flywheel cover mounting on the engine block.





2. Remove flywheel/carrier plate:
- Use gear segment tool No. 999 6112, or equivalent.
- Remove flywheel/carrier plate.





3. Rest engine on frame:
- Use frame tool No. 999 2520 and fitting tool No. 999 5297, or equivalents.
- Remove lifting gear.





4. Refer to the illustration when removing components from the rear of the non turbocharged engine.





5. Refer to the illustration when removing components from the rear of the turbocharged engine.





6. Refer to the illustration when removing components from the exhaust side of the non turbocharged engine.





7. Refer to the illustration when removing components from the exhaust side of the turbocharged engine.





8. Refer to the illustration when removing components from the intake side of the non turbocharged engine.
