Checking Rotor, Distributor Cap and Spark Plugs





Checking Ignition Cables
- Remove all ignition cables.
- Check the ignition cables for damage, cracks or arcing.
- Measure the resistance in each ignition cable.
- Resistance should be 1.81 - 5.46 ohms depending on length, at 20°C.

If reading is OK:
^ Proceed to test step below.

If reading is incorrect:
^ Remedy as necessary.





Checking The Distributor Cap And Rotor
- Remove the distributor cap.
- Check the distributor cap/rotor for damage, cracks and arcing.
- Are the distributor cap/rotor OK?

Yes:
^ Proceed to test step below.

No:
^ Replace damaged components.





Checking The Spark Plugs
- Remove all the spark plugs.
- Check if one of the spark plugs is lighter in color than the others.
- Is one plug lighter than the others?

Yes:
^ This indicates that its cylinder is receiving too little fuel. Try a new injector.

No:
^ Proceed to Checking Compression and Fuel Pressure section.
