With SIPS

Removing

WARNING: Seats with SIPS bag must always have the transport safety device installed in order to avoid accidentally activating the system when working on the seat.

Installing the SIPS bag safety device.




- Remove the cover plate for the SIPS Airbag sensor module.




- Remove the transport safety device from its holder on the inside of the cover plate.
- Install the transport safety device on the sensor module.





- Remove the clip on the side storage bin.

Other preparations
- Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.
- Lower the seat to the maximum low point for front and rear edges of the seat cushion.
- Remove battery negative lead.

Removing the head restraint




Removing the head restraint makes it easier to get the seat out of the car.
- Press just under the frame on the rear of the backrest.
- At the same time pull the head restraint up.

Seat removal





Remove:
- The panels (front) over the seat rails.
- 4 mounting bolts in the seat rails.
- Seat heating pad connector.
- Control module connector (under the seat; only applies to power seat with memory).
- Control panel connector (only applies to power seats without memory).




- Pull seat back against stop.
- Pull seat approx.. 5 mm (0.2 in.) forwards.
- Lift seat straight up so that guide rail locating pins come clear of keyholes" in floorpan.
- Lay or stand the seat on a clean surface.

Reinstalling

Installing seat

Reinstall in reverse order.


NOTE: Tighten seat in the order described below. If this is not done the seat may not be oriented correctly.


- First tighten the rear inner mounting bolt.
- Then continue with both the front mounting bolts.
- Finally tighten the rear outer mounting bolt. Tightening torques, seat/floorpan: 50 Nm ± 10 Nm (37 ± 7 ft.lb).

SIPS airbag, removing the safety device




- Remove the transport safety device from the sensor module and return it to its storage place on the inside of the cover panel.
- Reinstall the cover panel.
