Moves In Wrong Direction

PA. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information





Condition
Motor 4 controls the height of the seat at the front edge. If the control module receives a signal from the potentiometer that motor 4 is turning in the wrong direction diagnostic trouble code (DTC) PSL/PSR-224 is set.

Possible source
- Wiring to motor 4 incorrectly connected.
- Wiring to potentiometer for motor 4 incorrectly connected.
- Detective control module.

Fault symptom(s)
- When the height adjustment control button is pressed to raise the seat front edge it moves down or vice versa.
- When a memory button is activated the seat front edge moves in the wrong direction.
- Fault-tracing begins at PB. Moves in the wrong direction.

PB1: Checking movement direction
Operate the seat front edge vertically to raise it and lower it using the control button.
Does the seat front edge move in the correct direction?

Yes:
- PB3

No:
- PB2


PB2: Switching connections on motor 4
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove seat from car.
- Disconnect black 14-pin connector C.

Switch over the leads:
- Press out pins in pos. 5 (white lead) and 6 (black lead) from connector C. Use terminal removal tool 951 2631.
- Switch the leads over and press the pins into the connector.

Then continue with:
- PB5






PB3: Checking wiring in potentiometer 4
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove seat from car.
- Disconnect black 14-pin connector C.
Check that the brown lead is connected to C:14 and the red lead to C:8.

If the leads are in the wrong positions:
- Press out pins C:14 and C:8. Use terminal removal tool 951 2631.
- Switch the leads over and press the pins into the connector.
- Reinstall connector

Were the connections OK?

Yes:
- PB4

No:
- PB5






PB4: Replace component
The motor and potentiometer are correctly connected to the control module.

Try a new control module. Control module, Service and Repair

Then continue with:
- PB5






PB5: Verification
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect up seat in car.
Select scrolling values and read off the value from the potentiometer for motor 4.

Operate the seat front edge, raising and lowering it by using the control button.

The value should increase when the seat is moved up at the front edge and decrease when it is moved down.

If reading is OK:
- Fault corrected

If reading is incorrect:
- PB5


PB6: Fault-tracing information
The verification result shows that the fault persists.

Yes:
- Fault not corrected

No:
- PB1
