Removal
1. Mount support rails, lifting yoke and lifting hook. Jack up car slightly.
2. Remove: Nuts (five) securing steering gear to subframe.
3. Remove bolts from fluid line clips at front and rear of subframe.
4. Position hoist under rear of subframe.
5. Remove:
a. Bolts (two on each side) securing subframe brackets to body.
b. Bolts (one on each side) securing brackets to subframe. Also remove washers.
6. Slacken front bolts in subframe by 10-15 mm. Lower subframe at rear. Ensure that steering gear bolts clear subframe.
7. Disconnect/remove:
a. Stabilizer bar (anti-roll bar) from control arms.
b. Stabilizer bar clamps.
c. Stabilizer bar.
8. Remove EVAP canister (carbon filter) hose clip. Disconnect canister hose at joint. Cut a piece of hose, P/N 185507-1, approximately 480 mm long. Fit over canister hose and remake joint (If equipt.).
Installation
1. Install/reconnect:
a. Stabilizer bar (anti-roll bar).
b. Stabilizer bar clamps. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
c. Control arms to stabilizer bar. Use new nuts. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
2. Use hoist to raise subframe at rear:
a. Install subframe brackets.
b. Install new subframe bolts (M14) loosely. Transfer hoist to front of subframe. Replace front bolts but do not tighten at this point.
c. First tighten bolts at left side of subframe to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.) and through further 120°, then tighten right-hand bolts to same values.
d. Finally, tighten bracket bolts on both sides to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
3. Tighten as follows:
a. Steering gear nuts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). Use new nuts.
b. Oil line clips to subframe at front and rear.
4. Remove lifting tools.
