Repairing Cracks

Prepare the damaged area





Rub down the varnish but do not go through the wood veneer.

Use 800 wet and dry paper.

Rub the area around the damage down flush.

Rub down by hand using the block in the repair kit.

Rub down the area around the damage.

Use 1000 wet and dry paper.

Select the right color shellac.

Apply shellac to the soldering iron.





Apply shellac to the tip of the hot soldering iron.

A grain effect can be achieved by mixing different colors of shellac.

Apply one color to the bottom of the crack and fill in with a lighter or darker color.





Apply shellac to the damage.

If pinholes develop; fill with shellac.





Scrape off excess shellac using a glass scraper.

NOTE!
Take care no to damage the veneer.

Rub down the shellac with wet and dry paper.





Use the sanding block.

Start with 1000 paper.

Finish off with flour paper.

Rub down the area so that the transition can neither be felt nor seen, but do not rub down the veneer more than necessary.





Spray varnish onto the sanded area.

Check masking.

Ensure that ventilation is good.

Spray repeatedly with two minute's interval between coats.

Polish.





The surface can be polished after five minutes. Use a low speed polishing machine.

Polish the transition between the finish and the existing varnish.

Polish first with polishing compound and then polish.

Remove the masking tape.
