Interior Lighting

Switches for interior lighting, courtesy lighting and door warning lights

The switches for the interior lighting, courtesy lighting and door warning lights are door switches of the conventional 2-way type. When a door is open, the switch is grounded.

The front and rear door switches are of the double switch type. When a door is open, both switches are grounded. One switch controls the interior and courtesy lighting and the other the door warning light.

When a door opens, the interior lighting door switch sends a signal to the central locking relay which controls the interior lighting.

The central locking system is not affected by the door switches for the interior or courtesy lighting or door warning lights.

The switch on the trunk central locking module (4-door models) is a microswitch which controls the trunk lighting only. The microswitch is integral with the central locking module.

The cargo area lighting switch in 4-door models does not send any signals to the central locking module.

The cargo area lighting in 5-door models is controlled by the door switch on the LH hinge. This is interlocked with the other four doors, so that opening the tailgate switches the interior lighting on.

The door switches can be immobilized so that the interior, courtesy and door warning lights do not activate when the doors are open by pushing in the door switch and turning it clockwise. The door switch resets automatically when the doors are closed.
