Rear wheel hub, measuring lateral runout

Special tools:
999 5418 Measuring kit 999 5418 Measuring Kit
999 5507 SCREW SET 999 5507 Screw Set

Preparations




Take out measurement tool set 999 5418 Measuring kit 999 5418 Measuring Kit.

Remove:
- the wheel
- the mounting screws for the brake caliper holder. Hang the brake caliper from the spring using a wire
- the brake disc.

Install the bracket included in the test equipment




Install the bracket on the mounting hole for the brake caliper. Use the M8 screws and nuts included in the kit: 999 5507 SCREW SET 999 5507 Screw Set.

Note! The lower nut is specially manufactured and should be located in the bracket.




Install the dial gauge in the bracket as illustrated.

Measure the lateral run out




Put the test gauge point against the hub flange as illustrated.
Rotate the hub gently.
Note the test gauge run-out. Hub maximum lateral run-out: 0.020 mm.
If lateral run-out exceeds the value, replace the hub.
To replace the hub, FWD, Rear Wheel Hub, Replacing.
To replace the hub, AWD, Rear Wheel Hub, Replacing.

Finishing work

Note! For tightening torques, [1][2]Specifications.





Remove the test equipment

Install:
- the brake disc
- the 1 M6 screw
- the brake caliper and the caliper holder.
Tighten. See: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.

Note! Use new mounting screws.

Install the wheel
