Checking the cables and components

Hint: The phone module is connected to the GPS antenna via a connector on the right A-pillar.




- Ignition off.
Check the antenna cable between the phone module (PHM) connector G (grey) and connector E (connector 1) on the right A-pillar for a short circuit to ground as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Test connector G between:
- A (antenna signal) and B (mudguard ground)
- A (antenna signal) and body ground
If no fault is found on the antenna cable, test again after replacing antenna as described in Antenna carphone, replacing Service and Repair.
Do the necessary corrective action.

Additional information:
- In terms of DC voltage, the GPS antenna has a fixed internal resistance of approximately 60 (.
- Using an ohmmeter, the resistance between the signal wire and mudguard or body ground antenna cable, between the phone module and the right A-pillar connector should be infinite.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.








- Ignition off.
- Connect connector, install components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Turn on the phone.
- Wait approximately 20 seconds.
Click on the VCT 2000 symbol to read the diagnostic trouble codes.
Check that the status of the current diagnostic trouble code has changed from permanent to intermittent fault.
