Checking the wiring
- Ignition off, wait for 10 seconds.
- Disconnect the connector from the rear left-hand seat belt tensioner.
- Disconnect the connector for Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected non-deployed seat belt tensioner. This could deploy the seat belt tensioner!
Check connectors for damage to pins and connections.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation.
Also check other connectors and terminals that connect the wiring between the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the seat belt tensioner.
Check the cable. Check for loose connections. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #16A/16(16) and the connector to seat belt tensioner, left, rear, terminal #1.
- Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) terminal #15A/15(15) and the connector to seat belt tensioner, left, rear, terminal #3.
Remedy as necessary.
