Activating and reading out components
Caution! Reference values from a vehicle (XC90) with good radio reception shall be used as comparison when reading out. Read out from a vehicle (XC90) with good radio reception.
- Park the vehicle outdoors in a position with good radio reception.
- Search through the whole frequency range and read out from all radio stations found with automatic search. Read out signal strength and noise level for both main antenna and sub-antenna. Note and save all readout values. Then these saved values shall be used as reference values.
- Make an exact note of the vehicle's position and direction.
When reading out from vehicles for troubleshooting:
- Park this vehicle in exactly the same position and in the same direction as the vehicle from which the reference values were obtained.
- When reading out, compare the readout values from the vehicle in question and the reference values.
- Ignition on
- Engine running or battery charger on.
- Radio on.
Activate readout and activation of components/functions by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
Search through the whole frequency range and read out from all radio stations found with automatic search. Read out signal strength and noise level for both main antenna and sub-antenna.
When reading out, the signal strength and noise level are checked for the active antenna.
The most accurate comparison for deviations from reference values are performed on the readouts from stations that have a signal strength below 175.
If the signal strength deviates more than approx. 30 from the reference values:
- Check cables and connections for open circuit and contact resistance.
- Check the antenna flex conductor for open circuit on the antenna that deviates most from reference values.
Remedy as necessary.
If no malfunction was found, report the result of troubleshooting to the sales company/importer according to normal report procedure.

When reading out from the AM-band the signal strength may vary depending on at what time the readout is performed.
- Ignition on
- Engine running or battery charger on.
- Radio on.
Activate readout of components by clicking on the symbol for VCT2000.
Search through the whole frequency range and perform a read out from all radio stations found with automatic search.
When reading out, the signal strength of the selected radio station is checked.
The most accurate comparison for deviations from reference values are performed on the readouts from stations that have a signal strength below 145.
If the signal strength deviates more than approx. 25 from the reference values:
- Check cables and connections for open circuit and contact resistance.
- Check the antenna flex conductor for open circuit on the AM-antenna.
Remedy as necessary.
If no malfunction was found, report the result of troubleshooting to the sales company/importer according to normal report procedure.
