Checking the Stand-By Current Consumption

Checking the stand-by current consumption

The generator (GEN) has been designed to supply the car with sufficient current for normal electrical loads when driving. The battery functions as a buffer for extreme consumption or driving conditions. When the engine is switched off, it is the battery that supplies the car with energy. Components or functions which consume energy when the ignition is switched off are items such as the engine cooling fan (FC), blower fan, lighting, control modules etc. The control modules in the car consume energy for up to 10 minutes after the ignition was switched off.
Check the stand-by current consumption. See Standby current, measuring / fault-tracing Standby Current, Measuring/Fault-Tracing.
