Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair






Engine speed (RPM) sensor, replacing

Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removal

Removing the air cleaner (ACL)




Remove the hose clamp from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Disconnect the connector from the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.

Remove:
- the 3 x screws for the fresh air intake (1) in the front cover plate
- the 3 x screws for the air cleaner (ACL)
- the air cleaner (ACL) (2) assembly.
Unhook the control valve from the air cleaner (ACL) housing.

Removing the engine speed (RPM) sensor




Remove the nut for the engine speed (RPM) sensor
Disconnect the connector for the sensor.
Lift out the sensor from the holder.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.

Installing the engine speed (RPM) sensor

Install:
- the sensor in the holder
- a new nut. Tighten. Connect the connector for the sensor.

Installing the air cleaner (ACL)





Install:
- the air cleaner (ACL) (2) assembly. Tighten the screws. Unhook the control valve on the air cleaner (ACL) housing
- the screws for the fresh air intake (1) in the front cover plate. Tighten the screws.
Connect the connector to the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Tighten the hose clamp.

Finishing
Start the engine and check the function.
