Checking the component
Ensure that the audio module is fault free by checking that there is sound from the driver's side speaker when, for example, radio mode is selected on the audio equipment.
Change the volume by selecting "change volume" in the RTI menus.

Hint: If there is no sound from the driver's side speaker, the fault is in the audio equipment. Fault-trace the audio equipment instead.

Is there sound coming from the driver's side speaker?

Yes - Checking the component

No - No Fault Found

Check the cable between the road traffic information (RTI) control module terminal and audio unit terminal #E8. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Remedy as necessary.
