Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-340C is for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor, intake.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-341C is for the camshaft position (CMP) sensor, exhaust.
The engine control module (ECM) checks the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor is constantly high. This is interpreted by the engine control module (ECM) as a fault. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is running.

Possible source
- Open-circuit in the signal cable
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
- Short-circuit to ground in the power cable
- Open-circuit in the ground lead
- Damaged camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
