Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The oil temperature sensor sends a signal to the transmission control module (TCM) which is used for functions such as temperature controlled lockup and initiating high-temperature programs. The sensor has an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0042 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor corresponding to a temperature above approximately +150°C for approximately 2 minutes.

Substitute value
- No substitute values.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Short-circuit to ground in signal cable.
- Defective oil temperature sensor.
- Mechanical fault in the transmission.
- The transmission has been exposed to extreme load and high ambient temperature.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
