Bushing, brake pedal, replacing

Preparatory work

Remove the brake lamp switch in accordance with: Stop lamp switch, replacing Service and Repair.

Removal

Removing the steering column from the lower steering shaft joint




Fold the floor carpet out of the way.
Bend up the outer section of the steering shaft boot.
Remove the retaining clip around the boot.
Pull the boot up.

Remove:
- the screw for the steering wheel shaft's mounting in the joint, 1 pc.
- the joint from the steering shaft.

Note! Remove the ignition key so that the steering wheel lock is activated.

Removing the brake pedal





Remove:
- the screw and nut
- the pedal.

Removing bushings




Press out the spacer sleeve. Pry the old bushings out of the way using a screwdriver.

Installation

Tightening torque
For tightening torques see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.

Installing bushings

Press in:
- the bushings. Lubricate using grease, part number 1161241-3
- the spacer sleeve.

Installing the brake pedal

Install:
- the pedal
- the nut and the screw, 1 pc. M10.

Installing the steering column on the lower steering shaft joint
Install the steering shaft on the lower steering shaft joint.

Install:
- a new screw, 1 pc. M8
- the steering shaft boot and snap ring.
Fold back the carpet.

Finishing

Fit the brake lamp switch in accordance with: Stop lamp switch, replacing Service and Repair.
