Front wheel hub, replacing

Special tools:
999 7062 Separator 999 7062 Separator

Preparation
Remove the wheel.

Removing brake calipers





Remove:
- the two screws
- the brake caliper.
Hang up the caliper in a suitable position.

Removing the screw for the drive shaft




Remove the drive shaft screw. Use a screwdriver as a counterhold on the brake disc.
Detach the end of the drive shaft in the hub by knocking the drive shaft into the hub approximately 10-15 mm. Use a rubber or copper mallet.

Removing the brake disc

Remove:
- the screw
- the brake disc.

Disconnecting the steering arm




Remove the nut.

Note! Counterhold using the wrench grip so that the screw does not rotate and damage the rubber boot.

Disconnecting the anti-roll bar link




Remove the nut. Pull the link out of its mounting.

Note! Counterhold using a Torx wrench so that the boot for the link is not damaged.

Disconnecting the cable harness for the ABS sensor




Remove the cable harness from its brackets.

Removing the control arm from the ball joint




Remove the nut from the ball joint on both sides. Counterhold using a Torx wrench so that the ball joint boot is not damaged.
Press out the ball joints. Use special tool 999 7062 Separator 999 7062 Separator.




Pull down the control arm (1) using a tension strap (2).
Release the spring strut from the control arm and drive shaft.

Warning! Ensure that the tension strap is correctly secured in the control arms.

Removing the hub





Remove:
- the four screws
- the hub.

Tightening torque
For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.

Installing the hub

Install:
- the hub
- the four screws.
For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.

Installing the control arm on the ball joint
Install the drive shaft in the hub. Align the ball joint against the control arm.
Release the tensioning strap between the control arms.
Install a nut on the ball joint. (M10)

Note! Counterhold using the Torx wrench so as not to damage the boot.

Remove the tensioner strap.

Installing the cable harness for the ABS sensor
Install the cable harness in the brackets.

Installing the anti-roll bar link

Install:
- the anti-roll bar link
- the nut (M12).

Note! Counterhold using a Torx wrench so that the boot for the link is not damaged.

Installing the steering arm

Install:
- the steering arm
- the nut.
For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.

Note! Counterhold using the wrench grip so that the screw does not rotates and damage the rubber boot.

Installing the brake disc

Install:
- the brake disc
- the screw.

Installing the drive shaft screw
Install a new screw. Use a screwdriver as a counterhold.

Installing brake calipers

Install:
- the brake caliper
- the two screws.
For tightening torques, see Specifications Tightening Torque.

Finishing
Install the wheel. See Installing wheels Service and Repair.
