Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P033900

Condition

The impulse sensor's signal to the Engine control module (ECM) provides information about the number of teeth in the flywheel/number of holes in the carrier plate that have passed the impulse sensor. The control module uses the signal when calculating the engine speed.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The impulse sensor's signal detects an incorrect number of teeth on the flywheel/hole in the carrier plate during a certain number of crankshaft turns.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Starter motor running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Signal from the camshaft position sensor.

Possible source
- The signal cable (+) has an open-circuit or is short-circuited to ground or supply voltage.
- The signal cable (-) has an open-circuit or is short-circuited to ground or supply voltage.
- Damaged engine speed (RPM) sensor

Fault symptom[s]
- Nothing.
