Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P035200

Condition
Engine control module (ECM) controls the ignition coils so that spark occurs at the right time. The control module checks the ignition coils' function using a separate diagnostic line.
The control module also checks the direct voltage on the signal line from the ignition coil.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal in the diagnostics line indicates malfunction, or that direct voltage in the signal line is considered too high or too low.
- Incorrect value lasts longer than 9 seconds.
- Incorrect value lasts for 2 or more subsequent driving cycles.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- The control module blocks heated oxygen sensor control.

Possible source
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the terminals.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable.
- Open-circuit in the signal cable.
- Open-circuit in the power supply cable.
- Diagnostics line short-circuited to voltage.
- Diagnostics line short-circuited to ground.
- Open-circuit on the diagnostic cable.
- Damaged ignition coil.

Fault symptom[s]
- Engine misfires
