Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P074100

Condition
The transmission control module (TCM) checks the function of the lock-up solenoid by comparing the speed signal from the transmission speed sensor with the speed (rpm) signal from the transmission speed (rpm) sensor. The signals must then "show" the same calculated speed (rpm). The transmission control module (TCM) also compares the speed from the transmission speed sensor with the engine speed (RPM). Rpm should be greater than or less than transmission speed depending on which gear is engaged.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Speed and rpm signals do not match calculated values. This indicates that the lock-up solenoid (SLU) is spinning or is not engaged.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Normal driving.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Adaptation function is blocked.
- The lock-up function is blocked.
- Slip lock-up function is blocked.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals.
- Open-circuit in the cable for the control signal or signal ground.
- Solenoid not working.
- Solenoid stuck in closed position.
- Internal fault in the transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
- Rough gear shift
- No gear shift
- Abnormal slipping gearshifts
- Text window and warning symbol/Yellow symbol and text message
