Fault-Tracing Information
Fault-tracing
Checking the function
- Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle.
- Read off the transmission input speed.
Increase rpm and check that it is updated. Compare with the engine speed (RPM).
Read off the transmission input speed.
If the transmission input speed updates correctly it means that the fault was present previously but is not active now. There is an intermittent fault.
If the transmission input speed does not update correctly it means that the fault is permanent.

-------------------------------------------------
Checking the wiring and sensors
- Ignition off.
- Connect the breakout box to the transmission.
- Expose the transmission control system.
- Disconnect the connector for the transmission speed input sensor.
Check the input speed sensor cables by connecting an ohmmeter between terminal #B12 (#A12) and input speed sensor terminal #2 plus between breakout box terminal #B13 (#A13) and input speed sensor terminal #1. The resistance must be 0 ohms. Also check the cables for short circuit to nearby cables in the cable harness.
Hint: If no faults are found in the wiring check the input speed sensor. See : Checking internal components of the transmission Checking Internal Components Of The Transmission

Resetting the adaptation and oil quality counter
Resetting adaptation
Resetting the adaptation and the counter for "Transmission oil, replace"
Hint: The transmission has torque-regulated, adaptive pressure regulation. The pressure regulator enables the transmission to regulate pressure during each shift to prevent hard shifting. Each shift is assessed by the transmission control module (TCM) and is stored in the internal memory. This makes it possible to compensate for transmission and clutch wear. It is important that the adaptation in the memory is reset so that the transmission works normally after the repair. Because the fluid was changed during the repair, the counter for transmission fluid change must also be reset. If the counter is not reset during draining/replacement, a diagnostic trouble code may be generated under the wrong conditions.
Note! This applies only if the transmission or one of the components in the transmission have been replaced.
- Ignition on.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol to reset the adaptation and counter.
