Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P280100
Condition
The gear position sensor is integrated in the transmission control module (TCM) and provides information about the selected gear position. Two Hall sensors in the transmission control module (TCM) detect whether the selector lever is in position. For diagnostics, there is a parallel hall sensor (2) that gives a reversed signal characteristic, so that the sum of the signal voltages from hall sensor (1) and (2) are constant. The signal voltage (0 and 5 V) corresponds to the current gear selector position.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Transmission is in mechanical neutral position despite the gear selector being moved to D.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- None.
Possible source
- The transmission cable is incorrectly adjusted.
Fault symptom[s]
- No gear shift
