Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U012588
Condition
The Brake control module (BCM) communicates with the body sensor cluster stability sensor (BSC) via an internal controller area network (CAN). The Body sensor cluster stability sensor (BSC) provides the Brake control module (BCM) with information about the lateral movement of the vehicle and the lateral and forward acceleration.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Communication with the body sensor cluster stability sensor (BSC) affected.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- Stability control (SC) blocked.
- Traction control (TC) blocked.
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked.
Hint: Brake system, abbreviations Brake System, Abbreviations
Possible source
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals.
- Interference in the wiring.
- Damaged body sensor cluster stability sensor (BSC).
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
