Checking the status




- Start the engine and let it idle for approx. 3-5 minutes to perform the diagnosis.
Check if the malfunction is permanent or intermittent by reading off the diagnostic trouble code's status when the diagnostic status is "Implemented".
If the trouble status is "Malfunction found", this indicates that the malfunction is permanent. If the trouble status is "No malfunction found", this indicates that the malfunction is intermittent.

Caution! Do not apply rust solvent spray or grease to the heated oxygen sensor's (HO2S) connector.

Check the rear heated oxygen sensor connector (bank 1). Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the cable between Engine Control Module (ECM) #A41 (#A41) and heated oxygen sensor #4 for contact resistance and oxidation in connections, open circuit and short-circuit to ground.
If the above troubleshooting does not solve the problem, try a new heated oxygen sensor.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After repairing, it is necessary to check that the malfunction has been fixed.








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Start the engine to perform the diagnosis.
Read off the diagnostic status and trouble status for the diagnostic trouble code.
Check that the diagnosis is "Implemented" and that the trouble status is "No malfunction found". If the trouble status is "Malfunction found", this indicates defective function.
