Multimedia Module (MMM)

Downloading software and replacing the control module

General
Software is downloaded to the Multimedia module (MMM) via DVD.
When a DVD with map information is inserted, the software on the DVD is compared with that in the Multimedia module (MMM). If the software on the DVD is more recent, a message is displayed in the High Level Display Front (HLDF) and the Multimedia module (MMM) software can be updated. The update takes approximately 10 minutes and during this time the High Level Display Front (HLDF) will switch off.

Replacing the control module
The multimedia module (MMM) is mounted in the cargo compartment.
For V70/XC70/XC60 the control module is located on the left side, under the load floor.
Before the old control module is removed from the vehicle, the DVD with map information shall be removed from the control module. To configure the new control module for the correct market the DVD with map information must be inserted in the Multimedia module (MMM), then the disc starts an automatic configuration.
When replacing Multimedia module (MMM), a software download also has to be performed via the software manager in VIDA for the new serial number to be entered in Central electronic module (CEM).
After start of the multimedia module (MMM), the infotainment control module (ICM) checks its unique serial number. If the serial number is incorrect, the multimedia module (MMM) will not work. If the problem remains after software download, try switching the ignition off/on.
