NOTE! THIS DOCUMENT SUPERSEDES THE PREVIOUS TECHNICAL JOURNAL 26840 DATED 10-15-2012 AND ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF 25994. New software (SW) is available for all vehicles with the Gen II TF80 transmission. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FILES.
DESCRIPTION:
Due to an internal tolerance deviation in the automatic gearbox, (TF80SC) the customer may experience rough shift from 5th to 4th gear, and/or shift shock after standing still at brake pedal release, and/or harsh engagement during the neutral to drive (N-D) shift, and/or set Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTC P089500.
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
There is a modified software that regulates for the internal tolerance deviation for different temperature areas in automatic gearbox.
VEHICLE REPORT:
If the gearbox serial number is greater then S/N: 12F3800313 please contact the Prior Approval Department. See TJ 23342 or follow the process on VRC2.
SERVICE:
In case of customer complaints, update the TCM-SW with latest software in VIDA.
The customer should be notified that some shifts for the first few days may be harsh or delayed. The transmission will continue to adapt for the first few days after the vehicle is returned to the customer.
Note:
After TCM-SW has been updated a basic adaptation of the gearbox according to VIDA instruction might be necessary.
If the problem is not solved or improved by the basic adaptation, a focus on the different temperature areas might be necessary.
The new modified TCM SW have got temperature split for adaptation for: 5-4 coastdown shifts, N-D shifts and for Neutral Control.
The new temperature areas are, (in degree C): 40-65, 66-73, 74-81, 82-89, 90-110.
