Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
The Engine control module (ECM) checks the function for Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor control.
Cam profile control is carried out on two banks that are controlled by a valve for each bank.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The pressure in the intake manifold (during intake) differs between banks.
- Lower pressure than expected in the intake manifold (during intake) for the bank that the diagnostic trouble code refers to.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- 30 seconds after engine start-up.
- Driving in part load range.
- Engine speed 1400-2800 rpm.
- Oil temperature between 40°C and 120°C.
Hint: For this function, Bank 1 cylinders 1, 2 and 4 apply. Bank 2 regards cylinders 3, 5 and 6.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- Both banks for variable cam profile in high lift.
Possible source
- Dirty or damaged cam profile solenoid (CPS).
- Blocked oil ducts for variable cam profile.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
- Uneven idle
- Engine is difficult to start
- Poor performance
- High fuel consumption
