Checking the wiring and terminals
If the fault is intermittent, it has been registered previously but is no longer present. The fault is evaluated depending on how it occurs.
Check the cable between the central electronic module (CEM) and lighting in the cup holder/ashtray. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) #D12 (#12) and the lighting in the cup holder/ashtray.
Check the connection at the LED and ensure that the cables are not short-circuited to each other.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Check that the LED lights.
