Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition
Engine control module (ECM) controls injection time and injection timing by controlling the injectors' opening and closing. Control is performed by pulsating grounding of the signal line to respective valve. The control module checks the signal's shape and amplitude at opening and closing.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal's shape and amplitude do not follow expected signal.
- Incorrect value in more than 20 of 400 pulses.
- Incorrect value lasts for 2 or more subsequent driving cycles.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- The control module blocks heated oxygen sensor control.

Possible source
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the terminals.
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
- Damaged injector.

Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator light (MIL), on
- Engine does not fire on all cylinders
