Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P050465

Condition
The engine control module (ECM) checks the stop lamp switch by comparing the received signal with the brake pedal switch position. Information about the position of the brake pedal switch is transmitted from the brake control module (BCM) via CAN communication.
The control module compares both the signals.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signals indicate one and the same position for an implausibly long time.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
- The brake pedal depressed several times.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- The control module blocks auto start.
- Cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active.

Possible source
- Contact resistance or oxidation in brake light contact connections.
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals for the brake pedal switch. Look for the cause of the fault in the brake control module (BCM).
- Open circuit on signal cable.
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
- Damaged stop lamp switch.
- Damaged brake pedal switch. Look for the cause of the fault in the brake control module (BCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Cruise control does not operate
- Autostart; No Functionality
