End mounting, replacing
Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
This section contains methods for:
- the end mounting for the front seat. See: End mounting front, replacing

End mounting front, replacing
Removing front end mountings
Move the front seat as far forward as possible.
Remove the side panel. See: (-2004) or: Side panel front seat, replacing Side Panel Front Seat, Replacing (2005-).
Note! Use a weatherstrip tool to disconnect the seat belt from the end mounting. Carefully press the locking tab, as illustrated.
Remove the screw from the seat. Remove the end mounting.
Installing front end mountings
Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.
Install:
- the end mounting
- the M10 screw. Tighten.
Press the seat belt into the end mounting.
Note! A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.
Note! Also check that the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting by looking at the reverse of the end mounting.
A= Correctly locked position.
B= If the lock facing does not lock correctly with the end mounting, see A, replace the end mounting with a new one.
Note! Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.
Reinstall the side panel. See: (-2004) or: Side panel front seat, replacing Side Panel Front Seat, Replacing (2005-).
End mountings rear (second row), replacing
Removing rear end mountings (second row)
Install the front seat and the outer seat in the second row in their forward positions.
Note! Disconnect the top edge of the sill trim panel. Disconnect the seat belt from the end mounting by carefully pressing the locking tab with a weatherstrip tool, as illustrated, so that the seat belt releases from the end mounting.
Remove the sill trim panel. See: Sill trim panel, replacing Removal and Replacement
Move any hoses for the air conditioning (A/C) system to one side.
Remove:
- the screw
- the end mounting.
Installing rear end mountings (second row)
Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.
Install:
- the end mounting
- 1 M10 screw. Tighten.
Move any hoses for the air conditioning (A/C) system back into place.
Install the sill trim panel. See: Sill trim panel, replacing Removal and Replacement.
Press the seat belt into the end mounting.
Note! A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.
Note! Also check that the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting by looking at the reverse of the end mounting.
The position of the lock facing against the end mounting, with the seat belt fully inserted, must be:
A= Correctly locked position.
B= If the lock facing does not lock correctly with the end mounting, see A, replace the end mounting with a new one.
Note! Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.
End mounting rear (third row), replacing
Preparatory work
Hint: The end mounting lug, positioned between the side panel and the end mounting, is difficult to access. To release the seat belt from the end mounting, unscrew the entire end mounting from the third row of seats as follows.
Slide the second row seat(s) forward and fold the backrest(s).
Slide the seat cushion(s) for the third row back.
Note! Check to see if the vehicle has a half moon access hole for the screw for the end mounting (See the illustration).
Removing rear end mountings (third row) without access hole
Make a cut-out in the seat rail for the seat cushion.
Measure up the cut-out according to the following dimensions.
A=11 mm.
B=25 mm.
C=15 mm.
Push the carpet to one side.
Mill out the access hole. Use a rotary file.
Vacuum up the swarf from the milling. Wipe clean the seat rail for the seat cushion.
Fold back the carpet.
Removing rear end mountings (third row) with access hole
Remove the screw for the end mounting. Angle out the end mounting at the lower edge and lift straight up.
Remove the seat belt from the end mounting.
Installing rear end mountings (third row)
Install the seat belt to the end mounting.
Note! A clear click is heard when the seat belt has locked correctly with the end mounting.
Install the end mounting to the seat frame (1).
Note! The lower section of the end mounting must be aligned with the groove in the seat frame (2).
Install 1 M10 screw. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.
Note! Check that the seat belt is secure by jerking it hard in an upwards direction.
Finishing
Pull the seat cushion(s) for the third row forward.
