Headliner Removal/Installation
Special Tools Required
- KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014

NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the headliner.
- Be careful not to damage the dashboard or the interior trim.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove these items:
- A-pillar trims, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas
- Ceiling light Service and Repair
- B-pillar lower trims, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas
- B-pillar upper trims, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas
- Quarter pillar trims, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas
- Sunvisors, both sides Service and Repair
- Grab handles, four places Service and Repair
3. Remove the roof console (A).
1. Detach the clip (B) and release the hooks (C) by pulling the map light assembly (D).
2. Disconnect the front individual map light connector (E) and the moonroof switch connector (F), then remove the map light assembly.
3. Remove the bolts (G), then remove the roof console.
4. Lower the headliner (A).
1. Remove the front door opening seals (B), and the rear door opening seals (C) from each roof portion.
2. Detach the rear clips by pilling the rear portion of the headliner.
3. With the help of an assistant, release the Velcro fasteners (D) by pulling the front portion of the headliner, and release the headliner from the moonroof frame (E) by sliding the headliner rearward.
4. Lower the headliner.
5. With the help of an assistant, pull out the headliner (A) through the tailgate opening. Do not bend the headliner. Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.
6. If necessary, remove the side curtain airbag mounting bolts (A), the grab handle bracket mounting bolts (B), and the clips (C), then remove the grab handle bracket (D) from each side by releasing the hooks (E).

7. Install the headliner in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the headliner, sunvisor on deployed side, and the removed trim pieces with new parts Service and Repair.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the headliner and all removed trim. Replace any pieces with the following damage:
- Any crease or tears in the headliner (A)
- Any cracks or damage in the grab handle (B)
- Any damage around the grab handle holes (C) or sunvisor holes (D) in the headliner
- Any cracks in the sunvisor stay bracket (E)
- Any bends or cracks in the sunvisor stay shaft (F)
- Any cracks in the sunvisor base (G)
- Any cracks or breakage in the vanity mirror base (H)
- Any Velcro fastener (I) and clip base (J) which have come off the headliner
- When installing the grab handle, push on the handle against the brackets (K) until the clips (L) snap into place securely.
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Check that both sides of the headliner are securely attached to the body.
- Make sure the headliner overlaps the trim pieces correctly Service and Repair.
- When reinstalling the headliner through the tailgate opening, be careful not to fold or bend it. Also, be careful not to scratch the body.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
