Replacing Rear Guides With Cables

Rear Guides (with cables), Replacing

- Remove sunroof panel.
- Remove subassembly.



Removing water drain plate:






- Remove circlip and pry off lever.

- Release water drain plate by pressing down detent lever and pulling out of guide rails.

- Remove guide plate.

Note rubber ring behind lock washer.

Removing front guide:






- Remove front cover -1-.

- Pull front guide forward out of guide rails.

- Unscrew side cover -2- and pull tubular cable guides out of guide rails.

- Unclip spacer -3-.






- Pull rear guides with cables out of tubular guides.

Installing:






- Clean guide rails and tubular guides

- Lightly oil cables of rear guides.

- Check tubular guide brackets for damage.

CAUTION! The front guide is "automatically" offset and pretensioned when installed and, as a result, one end of the guide rail is higher. Under no circumstances should this be adjusted!


- Mount water drain plate on guide plate.

Water drain plate must first be engaged in guide rails on left and right sides.

- Assemble subassembly and insert phasing for sunroof into guide rails.

- Install subassembly.

- Adjust parallel running of rear guides and roof panel.

- Check "Neutral" position of cable drive; adjust if necessary.
