CAUTION!
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
• Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
• Switch the ignition off.
• Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
• After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to Repair Information and/or Owner's Manual.
• Steps after reconnecting voltage supply => Battery.
CAUTION!
High voltage!
Make sure to disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap before performing work on parts of High intensity gas discharge (xenon) headlamps marked with yellow high voltage symbols.

• For aligning headlamp housing to contour of body
• Contact must be made at lock carrier

Headlamps must be readjusted after performing measures which could affect their setting.

HID Headlamps, Adjusting
Current specifications and procedures for headlamp adjustment:

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• (VAS5051) with (VAS5051/1) and (VAS 6017)
• On vehicles with high intensity gas discharge (Xenon) headlamps, check DTC memory, erase it and perform basic setting before every manual adjustment via adjustment screws.
• Test requirement:
• tester (VAS5051) with (VAS 6017 ) K-wire adapter connected and vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD) " 55 headlamp vertical aim control" selected.
Indicated on (VAS5051):
- In selection - 1 -, click on the diagnostic function " 04 - Basic setting".
Display on (VAS5051):
1. Enter display group
- Select function "001" in button field - 2 - for " display group number 001" and press Q button to confirm input.
• Headlamps are being moved to set position.

3. Headlamp Adjusting
Headlamps are now in the set position.
• Basic setting 1 switches the adjustment mode off and enters " headlamps not set" into DTC memory.
Adjustment screws at right headlamp.
Arrangement at left headlamp is mirror image of right headlamp.
1. Adjustment screw for height-/lateral adjustment
2. Adjustment screw for vertical adjustment
- For height adjustment, turn adjustment screws - 1 - and - 2 - with the same number of rotations.
- Only use adjustment screw - 1 - for lateral adjustment.
Display on (VAS5051):
- Press s button to change into display group 002.
1. Basic setting
2. Display group 2
3. Adjusted position adapted
The control module has now learned this position as the adjustment position.
• The entry in DTC memory ("Headlamps not set") is erased and adjustment mode is re-initiated.
- End function "04 - Basic setting" by pressing arrow button.
- Select "06 - End Output"
