Secondary Relay Carrier, E-Box Right Plenum Chamber

Removing

- Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove rubber seal - 1 - on plenum chamber cover.





- Remove plenum chamber cover - 2 -.

- Remove bolts - arrows - for cowl grille - 1 - at left and right.





CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the cowl grille.

• Coat the space between the windshield and the cowl grille with some soapy water.

- Carefully remove the cowl grille - 1 - starting at the edge of the glass from the windshield vertically.

E-Box Right Plenum Chamber, Old Version

- Remove screws - arrows -.





CAUTION!
Pump-valve unit of heater (left in front of E-Box) heats up significantly during operation - danger of burns!

- Remove cover of E-Box in right plenum chamber.

- Carefully pry off mounting bracket - 3 - using screwdriver - arrows 1 and 2 - and remove engine control module from E-Box right plenum chamber.





• The engine control module remains connected to the wiring harness.

- Remove electrical harness connector - 1 - from main fuse panel - 2 -.

• Ignore - 4 - and - 5 -.

E-Box Right Plenum Chamber, New Version

- Release clips - arrows - and remove one (or two) engine control modules - 1 - and - 2 -.





• The engine control modules remain connected at wiring harness.

- Remove screws - arrows -.





CAUTION!
Pump-valve unit of heater (left in front of E-Box) heats up significantly during operation - danger of burns!

- Remove cover of E-Box in right engine compartment.

All

- Release locking mechanisms - arrows - and remove secondary relay carrier in E-Box right plenum chamber upward.





- Unclip bracket for additional fuses on relay and fuse panel.

- Remove relay or control modules, then unclip respective relay carrier.

• For exact assignment of secondary relay carrier E-Box right plenum chamber, refer to current wiring diagram.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Connect battery. Required actions => [ Vehicles with : ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting.
