• Various connectors of identical construction are present the air intake unit, apply identifying marks on connectors before disconnecting (risk of interchange).
• Different control motors are installed on the A/C unit and air intake unit, these control motors are distinguished by their electrical values (different adjustment ranges of installed potentiometers) and in their part number index, therefore mark the control motors before removing (risk of interchange).
• Depending on the version, for some countries with high dust levels, a dust filter is installed instead of the intake air grille, which prevents dust and sand from entering the fresh air blower.
1 Complete air intake unit

- In its installed state, it can be dismantled and reassembled.
2 Air Quality Sensor (G238)
• Only installed in vehicles with the "Comfort" version of the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head.

• Depending on the setting in the Multi Media Interface, the sunroof closes as soon as the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head switches over to air-recirculation mode (automatic air recirculation via the air quality sensor or manual air recirculation by pressing the air recirculation button). This function is equipment-dependent, its introduction has not yet been finalized. => "Infotainment / MMI" Owner's Manual
• The measured value for the Air Quality Sensor (G238) is evaluated by the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head, and implemented as well provided there are no switch-off conditions => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 (read the measured value block).
3 Air intake unit water drain
• Water that enters the fresh air intake in the air intake unit drains here
• A plastic piece to reduce the diameter is inserted in the water drain hose.
4 Grille in front of fresh air intake

8 Fresh Air Intake Duct Temperature Sensor (G89)

• Checking => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051.
• The measured value is evaluated by the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
9 Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J126)

• The Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J126) is activated by the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head via the A/C system"LIN Bus" data bus system => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051.
• Using the A/C system "LIN Bus " data bus system, the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head exchanges information with the Fresh Air Blower Control Module (J126) => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051.
• Checking => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051.
10 Fresh Air Blower (V2)
