Vent Frame, Checking

Vent Frame, Checking

In this illustration, the ventilation frames are depicted with rear bumper removed.

For forced air extraction, one ventilation frame - A - each is installed on left and right.

To ensure sealing lips - B - close correctly, vent frame - A - must be installed on the correct side.

To ensure proper function of passenger compartment ventilation, vent openings - B - in luggage compartment trim on left and right must not be sealed.

To enable air to flow from the vent openings - B - to the vent frames - A -, nothing may be placed in the space between the fender and luggage compartment lining.

Air from passenger compartment flows e.g. for the sedan via vent slots in the rear shelf and through slots in the upper lining into the luggage compartment.

Blocked channels or jammed sealing lips may cause windows to fog up.

- Check ventilation channels from the left and right vent openings - B - to the two ventilation frames - A - in the luggage compartment for throughput.

- With the rear bumper removed, check the sealing lips - B - in ventilation frames - A -; they must move freely and close by themselves.
