Front Manual Seat
Removing
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.
- Bring headrest into lowest lock position.
- Pull the handle for the forward/back adjustment - 2 - and move the seat - 4 -all the way back.
- Remove the front screws - 1 - and - 3 -.
- Pull the handle for the seat forward/back adjustment and move the seat all the way forward.
- Remove the rear screws - 5 - and - 6 -.
- Tip seat backward.
Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Connect the (VAS 6235) to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter, Connecting.
- Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Remove (VAS 6235) only after installing seat. Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter, Connecting.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Connect the connector to the couplings on the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
