Transfer Case Gear Oil Level Checking

Oil collecting and extracting device (VAG 1782)

Test Conditions

Gear oil temperature at approximately 20 °C (room temperature).

Test Sequence

- To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, use a 4 post hoist or a service pit.

- Place the used oil collection and extraction device (VAG 1782) under the transmission.





CAUTION!
Wear protective glasses.

- Remove the inspection plug - arrow -.

The fluid level must be at the bottom edge of the inspection plug opening.

- Drain off excess gear oil or top off to the proper level.

The inspection plug with seal must be replaced.

- Tighten the new inspection plug to 35 Nm.
