Selector Lever Handle

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose clamp pliers (VAG 1275)

Removing





- Place the selector lever in the "N" position.

The selector lever handle is removed together with the selector lever boot.

- Unclip the mounting frame for selector lever boot - 1 - from the center console and lift it upward and off - arrows -.

- Secure the lock button in the pulled out position using a cable tie - arrow - as shown in the illustration.





- Flip the selector lever boot - 1 - upward and over the selector lever handle - 2 -.





- Open the clamp - arrow - and pull off the selector lever handle together with the selector lever boot, without touching the lock button.

Installing





To install the selector lever handle, the lock button must be pulled out as far as possible and secured with a cable tie - arrow - or using the assembly aid included with new handle.

If the lock button was not secured, it must not be pulled out from the handle using mechanical aids. Apply compressed air to the bottom of the handle and press the lock button out with compressed air.

- Carefully install the selector lever handle completely on the selector lever. The lock button faces toward the driver.

When doing this, the handle must engage into the ring groove of the selector lever.

- Remove the cable tie or assembly aid, thereby the lock button mechanism engages in the vertical groove of the selector lever. If necessary, press the lock button into the selector lever handle.

- For the checking function, shift from the "R" position to the "S" position.

If the selector lever positions cannot be reached, remove the handle again.

- Clamp the selector lever handle - 2 - to the selector lever, using the clamp - arrow -. To do this, use the hose clamp pliers (VAG 1275).





- Clip the retaining frame for selector lever boot - 1 - onto the center console.
