- Check whether there is a marking (colored marking) on driveshaft and at flange/driveshaft at rear final drive.
- If this marking is not present, then mark in color the position of driveshaft flange - arrow A - to rear final drive - arrow B -.
- Attach (3139) and tighten plastic nuts.
• Never install assembly appliance onto balance plates.
- Remove bolts - arrows - securing center bearing.
- Remove the bolts connecting the driveshaft to the transmission by counterholding using the (T10172) with (T10172/5).

Install the driveshaft
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
• Remove the old, dry high-temperature grease from the CV joints and the driveshaft flanges. Fill with the same amount of new high-temperature (G 000 633) grease.
• Always remove any remaining locking fluid from thread bores in drive flanges for transmission driveshaft and for rear final drive. Cleaning can be performed with a thread tap. Otherwise, the securing bolts can shear while screwing in.
• After removal of the driveshaft from the rear final drive, do not reinstall additional balance washer (thicker washer) that may be between washer and bolt head.
• Always replace securing bolts for driveshaft (self-locking bolts).
• Pay attention to the installed position of the driveshaft: the center of the CV joint is located behind the center bearing facing the rear final drive.
• Make sure that the markings on flange for driveshaft - arrow A - and for transmission/rear final drive - arrow B - line up.
• If a new driveshaft is installed and the factory marking on the rear final drive flange is no longer visible, check radial runout at flange/driveshaft => [ Radial Run-Out at Flange/Driveshaft, Measuring and Marking ] Procedures and adjust color marking at new driveshaft to new marking at flange/driveshaft.
- Replace seals for driveshaft at transmission/rear final drive flange. Clean sealing surfaces and glue on new gaskets.
- Install the driveshaft and fasten it to the rear final drive - arrows - and to the transmission with the new bolts.
- Screw in securing bolts - arrows - so that center bearing can still be moved.
- Tighten bolts - 1 - on the front and rear ends of the driveshaft to tightening specification - 5 - => [ Hex Socket Head Bolt ] Rear Final Drive 0AR.
- Use the (T10172) with the (T10172/5) to do this.
- Tighten the front driveshaft bolts to the tightening specification - 5 - => [ Hex Socket Head Bolt ] Rear Final Drive 0AR.
- Use the (T10172) with the (T10172/5) to do this.

- Install the left and right bolts - 4 - just a few turns.
- Install the left and right heat shield - 2 - to the center bearing - 3 - with one bolt - 1 - (M8 x 30).
• Make sure the centering lugs - arrow A - fit inside the hole - arrow B - when tightening the combi-bolt - 4 -.
- Tighten the driveshaft center bearing on the body free of tension - 2 -. Tightening specification - 8 - => [ Hexagon Bolt ] Rear Final Drive 0AR
- Remove the locking pins - 1 -.
- Install the clip in the heat shield.
