The Number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.
3. Determines if the failure may be on the window switch side of the door module (inputs), or on the window motor and motor control circuits side of the door module (outputs).
4. Checks to see that the door module associated with the inoperative window recognizes the switch input.
Enabling the headlamps in this step eliminates the possibility of the window switch using an alternate path to ground through the illumination circuit, which could cause the scan tool to display an incorrect window switch state.
5. Eliminates the door module battery positive voltage and ground circuits as the cause.
9. Eliminates the window switch as the cause of the malfunction.
13. Eliminates the switch ground circuit as the cause.
14. Eliminates a switch signal circuit open or short to battery as the cause.
