Starter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Standard) Service and Repair.





3. Disconnect the starter wiring harness plug (1).

4. Remove the starter and generator positive cable nut (2) and the starter and generator positive cable (3).

5. Remove the starter bolt (5) and the starter ground cable (4).





6. Remove the starter bolt (1).

7. Remove the starter (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the starter (2).

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the starter bolt (1) and tighten to 58 Nm (43 lb ft).





3. Install the starter ground cable (4) and the starter bolt (5) and tighten to 58 Nm (43 lb ft).

4. Install the starter and generator positive cable (3) and the starter and generator positive cable nut (2) and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).

5. Connect the starter wiring harness plug (1).

6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
