Power Steering Pump Replacement




Power Steering Pump Replacement (V6)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
2. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement).
3. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
4. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
5. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (V6) (Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement)Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (V8) (Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement).




6. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the power steering pump.
7. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V6, Left Hand Drive, Rear Wheel Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Right Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V8) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive)).




8. Remove the power steering pump bracket bolts.
9. Remove the power steering pump and bracket from the vehicle.
10. If necessary, transfer the power steering pump bracket. Refer to Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement (Power Steering Pump Bracket Replacement).

Installation Procedure

1. Position the power steering pump and bracket in the vehicle.





Note: Start all fasteners by hand before finalizing any torques.

2. Install the power steering pump bracket bolts (1, 2, 3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: Torque the power steering pump bolts in the sequence shown.

3. Tighten the power steering pump bracket bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
4. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V6, Left Hand Drive, Rear Wheel Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Right Hand Drive))Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (V8) (Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (Left Hand Drive)).




5. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose to the power steering pump.
6. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle.
7. Remove the drain pans.
8. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (V6) (Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement)Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (V8) (Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement).
9. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement).
10. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement).
11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
